Even I don't always agree with my opinion

Jaffer & Glemaud – Canada’s Laurel & Hardy

Let’s say, “I have half a brain.”

I think I’m being a little harsh on myself but for the sake of argument let’s all make the assumption right now that I just have half a brain.

That makes me a little bit smarter than the Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz.

I have just finished watching the April 21st recording of Meeting 11 of the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates with Rahim Jaffer and his business partner Patrick Glemaud.

I listened intently to every question asked and every answer provided.

Except for the French parts.

As a proud and patriotic Canadian I love to boast that we are not just a bilingual, but also a multicultural country and my biggest regret as a Canadian is that I can only speak and comprehend one half of our official languages.

But that is neither here nor there at the moment.

For the testimony that was provided it didn’t even take the whole 1 hour and 53 minutes of the recorded broadcast OR the full capacity of my half brain to come to the conclusion that Jaffer & Glemaud are either liars or incompetent business men or, more likely, both.

Or maybe they’re just stupid.

Maybe they only have a half of a brain each too.

Maybe they have somehow managed to convince themselves that they are actually telling the truth.

Maybe they really think they are more important than they are.

But it’s obvious that they somehow believe they are above moral and ethical standards, if not above the law.

Perhaps they have delusions of grandeur, but one thing that is very clear is that they have no respect for the intelligence of even one such as myself that just has half a brain.

What does that say of the rest of my much more intellectual fellow Canadians?

You can fool some of the people some of the time…
