Even I don't always agree with my opinion

One Wife, Two Wives, Three Wives, More…

I don’t understand why polygamy is a criminal offence. How does that make sense that you can go to jail for loving too many people? I would think in today’s world that should be encouraged.

I’m not talking about situations like the Wackos from Waco. Fry the bastards like David Koresh for all I care.

And let’s not confuse rape, paedophilia or forced arranged marriages that some cults may or may not be practising with polygamy.

Let’s just talk about polygamy all on its own.

You can be married and cheat on your spouse and that’s not against the law (anymore) but if you are open and honest with your spouse and your spouse is okay with it – that’s illegal?

Where’s the logic in that?

Wife swapping is legal – and by extension so is husband swapping.

I’m not quite sure why I would want more than one wife (aside from the obvious benefits) and I don’t think my wife would want more than one husband (aside from the same obvious benefits. What can I say? I’m a liberated husband.)

I suspect the obvious benefits would be quickly tempered with pitfalls that would equal and likely outweigh the benefits.

But I don’t think it should be illegal for people that do find polygamy a beneficial way of life.

I suppose there are financial benefits. If two can live as cheaply as one – surely three can live as cheaply as two.

Then again, as Newton’s Third law states “for every action there’s an equal and opposite reaction”. So the downside might be the complications of dividing community property in a divorce settlement.

But that’s up to the lawyers to figure out. Let’s see them finally work for our money.
