Too Fucking Bad!

“Too fucking bad!” That’s all I have to say to Susan Atkins. No, wait a minute, “Boo fucking hoo,” also comes to mind. There – I think I’ve said all I have to say to Atkins.

With about 3 months left to live, Susan Atkins has recently been denied “compassionate release” from a California prison. Atkins has had one leg amputated, is partially paralysed and is dying of brain cancer.

“Too fucking bad!”

That may not sound very charitable of me, but then not being a born-again Christian as Atkins claims to be I am not bound by “judge not, lest ye be judged” and all that forgiveness shit.

“Too fucking bad!” There – I said it again. (I said that was all I had to say to Atkins – I didn’t say I wasn’t going to say it over and over again.” )

Susan Atkins aka Sadie Mae Glutz, you may recall if you’re old enough, was one of the Charles Manson Family that was convicted for her part in the 1969 murder of actress Sharon Tate and her unborn child.

Atkins admitted to stabbing Sharon Tate because, in her own words, Atkins was “sick of listening to her, pleading and begging, begging and pleading.”

Atkins was also convicted for her part in 7 of the other 8 murders that the Manson family committed around the same time.

Sentenced to Death Row in 1971 Atkins escaped the electric chair when the courts abolished the death penalty in 1972. So when Atkins is stricken down by cancer later this year – she will still have had a 37 year lease on life that she stole from Sharon Tate, Sharon’s unborn child and all the others that Atkins helped murder.

In those 37 years Atkins has been married twice. TWICE! What the fuck is that all about when an imprisoned, convicted murderess is free to marry?

Prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi who was responsible for Atkins conviction has provided the only sound reason as to why Atkins should be released and that would be to save the state money that Atkins is incurring for her hospitalisation and medical care. But somehow I suspect the government would be on the hook for those costs anyway.

And what is Atkins even doing in a hospital room? Send her home to die, “home” being – her prison cell.

Okay I’ve got just one more thing to say to Atkins. “Even after wasting the state’s money by applying for parole 17 times over the years you can always try again when you are eligible for parole in 2009. Oh wait! You’ll be dead!”

“Boo fucking hoo!”

It would be fitting to paint the word “Pig” in red paint on Atkins tombstone. That was the word that Atkins painted in Sharon Tate’s blood on the front door of the Tate residence.

“Woman, I have no mercy for you.” Let those words resonate for Susan Atkins and haunt her throughout eternity. For those words, from the foul mouth of Susan Atkins were probably the last words that Sharon Tate heard as she lay dying on the floor.

Maybe you`re right. There was no justice here. Maybe revenge is the ticket. Or maybe there was justice and some aren`t satisfied to leave it at that. If there was justice or revenge here, what was present at O.J.`s trial. Certainly not justice and no way on the revenge. Well , maybe some revenge meted out BY O.J. on Nichol buts that`s not what I`m talking about. And if O.J. did face justice , his ” exclusive club ” certainly would have meted out revenge on L.A.
Maybe if Manson had a more exclusive group of followers he and the others in his group would not have faced such harsh penalties.
Were the Manson Family crimes that much more brutal than O.J.`s by mere numbers alone. Is it any more tragic when five or six get butchered than two. Did Manson`s knife cut deeper or gash wider? I guess the big arguement would be the fact Sharron Tate was pregnant. If Nichol had been pregnant would it have made a difference? Get outta town it would have.
I wonder if a kid on drugs , 37 years later , finds they think differently than they did as a hippy? I wonder if she has remorse? I guess we`ll never know.

I don’t disagree with your comments about O.J.

Just for the record, in my books O.J. fits in the same category as Atkins. No better no worse despite the numbers, pregnancy, race etc.

I don’t know whether Susan Atkins had remorse or not. And I wouldn’t even try to speculate if her becoming a born again Christian was sincere.

I will concede that Susan Atkins did do some good from inside prison with her work in prison programs.

But you know what? Too little, too late. Keep stacking up the good deeds Atkins you’ve got a long way to go to make up.

This isn’t revenge or justice. Atkins was allowed to live out her life and die of natural causes.

That she can’t live out her last few days in freedom – well – I think you know my feelings on that – Too Fucking Bad!

I guess all I can say to your reply is thank ” God ” when guys like you and I were young we didn`t , one night , get some bad acid and ” punch somebodies ticket ” for them. It would have been a real shame if we were influenced against our will or not , to jump that hurdle. Maybe we were lucky , maybe we had good upbringings that kept us from it, maybe we had no ” cause ” and maybe we were too fucking stoned. Whatever. I feel you`re not interested but , in ” Larry`s Book ” , I think it says ” Judge not , lest ye be judged “. Ah Hell , maybe you`re right , fuck her.

Perhaps I AM being a little smug and self-righteous sitting here and passing judgement. Afterall I have never “walked a mile in her shoes” – thankfully.

Another saying comes to mind, “There but for the grace of god, go I” which, I think, is the point you are trying to make.

And it’s true. “Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?” (Except for The Shadow.) Or what any of us may be capable of.

I guess the big difference is, she did and I didn’t. It doesn’t really matter why. To the “victor goes the spoils.”

“You gotta pay your dues if you want to sing the blues. And you know it don’t come easy.”
